About Kindergarten Hints
Hey there fellow parents and teachers,
My name is Shannon K. and I currently teach the wonderful grade of Kindergarten in North Carolina. This website is dedicated to Kindergarten parents and teachers across the U.S.!! This website is based on the North Carolina Standard Course of Study for Kindergarten. If you don't live in North Carolina, there are still plenty of tips that you could use regardless of where you live.
Kindergarten is an exciting but also scarey time for both your children and yourselves. Kindergarten is no longer the grade where you play all day, take a nap, and go home. Yes, there are still short naps and snack time but now your children will learn everything from their letters and letter sounds to reading, writing, and spelling to a multitude of math skills all by the end of the year. On top everything that your children will be learning, they will also be assessed three times a year on literacy skills, math skills, spelling, and reading. As they say, "Kindergarten is the new 1st grade!".
Knowing that most parents have no clue what to expect for their little learners, I decided created this website to offer hints and ideas for parents to help you get through your child's Kindergarten year!! As for teachers, I have included things that I have picked up from other teachers and things that I have learned on my own in order to make my classroom a better place! Teachers, if you have an idea/hint that has worked for you and your classroom and you would like to include them here on my website, please email me at [email protected] .
Good luck to everyone and have a wonderful 2012-2013 school year!!
